My first race

Some friends from RLG were going to run in the Spring Chicken 10k in Temple and invited everyone in the group to join. I wanted to participate but didn't think I was in shape enough to do it. With ten days before race day I decided to commit to doing it. I figured worst case I would have to walk. I got new minimal shoes and wore them around the house because I was told you need to get use to them. I thought I would start out walking and work up to running. I know I didn't leave much time to train but I figured doing something even if I'm slow is better than doing nothing at all. My first day I walked 2.5 miles and other than blisters my feet felt fine. Day two I walked to Target and back which was supposed to be five miles round trip but I didn't account for the time I would be shopping. I thought I would take a different way home so we wouldn't be walking along the highway. I didn't know that the way I chose didn't have a sidewalk until it was too late. I'm pushing Timmy in the stroller full of groceries on a slant of grass and mud. I was tracking my time to Target, my time shopping and my time walking home. I was walking for two hours forty seven minutes and my foot was so messed up. Apparently you need to gradually break in the minimal shoes like one mile for a while not five miles your second day wearing them. My foot hurt to even walk so with a little over a week until the race I wasn't sure I would be able to do it. My friends that are experienced runners told me to rest my foot until the race so I did. I trained for two whopping days and got an injury so I wasn't able to run much at all but I finished. I was humbled because I had to walk most of the race because it hurt too much to run, but I was proud of myself for finishing. My time was still better than I thought it would be. It felt so good to know I did it!

My sweet friend Sarah sacrificed a good time to finish the race with me and the rest of the group also came back to help me finish. They were a great support!

My boys at the finish line cheering me on.

Awesome friends who encouraged me to do the race.

A night away in Monterey

We celebrated Valentines Day with a night away in Monterey, CA. It was wonderful to have time with just my man.

The view from our room.

We ate at a restaurant on the water. I had double the view. ;)

One of my favorite things to do with my favorite person. Getting breakfast.

Such a fun time! I love you babe!

Valentines Day 2013

I made Timmy pancakes with special sprinkles.

We were in CA without Josh for Valentines Day so we sent him this pic.

Love his Mom shirt that was handed down to us.

We had a fun family day together. And we did get to celebrate Valentines Day with a night away once Josh got to CA.

Grandma Lambert

My Grandma was beautiful inside and out. She really was a pretty woman but the kind of person she was is even more beautiful. She was a strong woman but also gentle and kind. She loved the Lord and lived her life for Him. She was a Godly wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always there to help whoever needed it. She would always put others needs above her own. She was very generous with what she had to the point that she would go without. She was a wonderful cook and whenever I would go visit she would make me hot tea if it was cold or sweet iced tea if it was hot. We would drink our tea and talk and talk. Whenever I would try a new recipe I would call to tell her about it. I miss talking to her. I miss her so much. She was the best Grandma and GG to my son. It makes me so sad that our future children won't get to have her in their life, but I'm so thankful for the time we had with her and I will treasure our memories together.

Grandma, I thank God for making me your Granddaughter. I thank Him for all the times I had with you and for the special relationship we had. I will miss visiting you and our long talks. I will miss our trips to the beach. I will miss being able to call you whenever I want to hear your voice. I will miss your Godly wisdom. I will hold onto all that you taught me. Like "this too shall pass" and so much more. I will treasure the memories I have with you like hearing you sing at church, your bright smile and warm hugs. I will think of you every time I wear red lip stick. :) There is a special place in my heart just for you. I love you Grandma! Until we meet again. All my love. <3

California for some relief

I was super sick last winter from the cedar and for me it causes sinus migraines. I was having them daily and not able to care for Timmy so we decided that Timmy and I would go to CA for six weeks to escape the cedar and try to get some relief. I didn't want to leave Josh for that long of a time but because it was to better my health we both felt it would be worth it. God obviously knew what would happen while I was there. My sweet Grandma went home to be with Jesus while I was there. I am so thankful that I got to be with her for her last few weeks and to be there for her service. I had no idea I was going to be saying good bye to one of the people that I love most. I will do a separate post on that later.

Here are some of the better times we had in CA.

It's not every day, every week or even every month that I get to hug my mom and dad, but on this day I got to hug them both. It was a great day!

Timmy helping Gramma bake.

Playing with cousins.

It was special to have time with Sam, Chris and the boys before they moved.

Building robots.

There was a lot of time spent visiting GG at the hospital.

I got to go to a Sharks game with my dad, dad2 and sis-in-law.

We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with my sisters family and my aunt and cousins.

Watching the penguin show with auntie.

Visiting Uncle Jason.

Walked to Vasona Park with Papa.

Timmy got to go to Mimi's preschool while visiting her and Auntie Karla and Uncle Shannon.

After five LONG weeks of being away from Josh we were finally back together. Josh flew out our last week in CA.

My other family. Love them so much.

My BFF of 16 years! Karla helped me through a difficult time while I was there and I'm so thankful to have such an amazing friend. No, they are more than friends they are my family.

Watching daddy and grampa put the train tracks together.

My Uncle Mark came out after Grandma passed. He lives in Japan so we don't see him often and it was so nice to have some time with him. You aren't a true Lambert if you don't like the beach. :)

Played in the ocean and went through three changes of clothes.

Grampa scheduled a visit to the local Fire department. Timmy was not impressed that they didn't have a fire pole. He was spoiled by Uncle Steve's fire house, but still had a fun time.

Fire pit in the backyard and making s'mores.

Timmy loves his fire hose we bought him.

A lot happened in our six weeks in CA. Even though it was a sad time I'm thankful we could be there. And I did get relief from my migraines.
